Four apple orchards in Elgin were showcased at the 2022 Hortgro Pome-fruit Field Day – three on G.778 and one on M.9. They were featured in the Oct/Nov ‘22 SAFJ. In the 1990s the first blushed pear varieties were grown in SA, which has since become the market leader for blushed pears. Of these, Cheeky® only made its debut in 2009 and continues to show promise for pear growers.
